Study this example state of affairs:

You lot are looking for Ben. Nobody is sure where he is/ but you become some suggestions.

We use may or might to say that something is possible. Usually you can employ may or might so you tin say:

· It may exist true. or It might exist truthful. (= perhaps information technology is true)

· She might know. or She may know.

The negative forms are may not and might not (or mightn't ):

· It may not be true. (=perhaps it isn't true)

· She might non piece of work here whatever more. (=possibly she doesn't work here)

· A: Why wasn't Amy at the meeting yesterday?

B: She might not accept known about information technology. (=perhaps she didn't know)

· A: I wonder why David was in such a bad mood yesterday.

B: He may not have been feeling well. (= peradventure he wasn't feeling well)

Could is like to may and might :

· It's a strange story, but it could exist true. (= it is possible that it'southward true)

· You could have left your phone at piece of work. (= information technology's possible that you left information technology there)

But couldn't (negative) is different from may not and might not . Compare:

· Sarah couldn't take got my message. Otherwise she would have replied.

(= it is not possible that she got my message)

· I wonder why Sarah hasn't replied to my bulletin. I suppose she might non take got it.

· (= It'southward possible that she didn't go it - so perhaps she did, maybe she didn't)
